It came to my attention via nutnatz that people were confused with my "YAY SPAIN" post. I was not in Spain. I was cheering their soccer team on for having beat Germany for the Euro Cup :D YAY SPAIN!

ARGH, I need to start... getting busy busy busy. And I need to stop spending money... Yesterday I had my scary interview... it went okay but I doubt I got the job. I think it was obvious how inexperienced I was at everything. hahaha. I hope D-ster gets it though! And then D-ster got her moms big car and we moved out of our school studio... I'm not sad yet, maybe it will hit me later. But I was in there for the last time ): Anyway, that went okay. Just moved everything to our studio in Queens. Then went back to pick up some more stuff, and then went back to my place for a bit to relax and eat and then went back to queens at midnight to drop the rest of the stuff off. And I paid the rent *shudder* We haven't even used the place yet and have already paid three months of rent. sucks :P

now we just need to make money so we can furnish our studio... :P so its far from being set up in there...

Today I'm meeting with Jacob from UF who scored me an illustration job... he's giving me the paperwork and specs... filling out an MTV contract. WOAH. so if all goes well I will be in bookstores in a year or so :P And then hopefully I can meet with nutnatz for a bit because she's leaving the country soon and I must see her before she goes! It's been hard trying to find a time when we could meet since we're both busy arooo.

Tonight I need to start that illustration job because it needs to be done before I leave for Germany and I'll probably be doing a few illustrations for it... so I need to get one done to make sure he likes it. Also writing a cover letter for a childrens theater troupe job I found, wanna mail that tomorrow. I'm going to sending my work to the Bologna Children's Book Fair too so I need to print that stuff out. mragh. I'll never get my career started if I don't try to apply or send something to somebody at least once a day. I must push myself! I can do this!

Also next week meeting with someone at scholastic and someone at random house :D

oh yes, going to be starting a blog on my art site... just for professional reasons. so when i get that up and running I will link to it.

YAY SPAIN!!!!

So Metal and I went to see Wanted last night (which was fun), but I couldn't get over the fact that some parents decided to bring their 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO THE MOVIE. WHAT THE FUCK. The kid was covering her eyes at the PREVIEWS for fucks sake. seriously.... weird. anyway.. it really bothered me. i really don't understand why a parent would take their kid to that movie. if they couldn't find a babysitter they could have just seen Wall-e... jayyysus D: did they not read the reviews about how freakin gory it was??? ghakejrhkjgaher makes me angry.

man daytime bbc america has gotten really sucky. The gordon ramsey episodes are just... constant repeats... the SAME repeats. I swear I've seen the indian restaurant episode and the spain episode on over 5 times each. its ridiculous. Also... I love You Are What You Eat and How Clean Is Your House, but theyre starting to go crazy with their repeats too. I've seen the same episode of How Clean on three days in a ROW once. seriously... wtf? cant they try older repeats or something? its just... pretty ridiculous.

actually... right now... the exact same episodes of How Clean are on that were on yesterday.... whats the deaaaaaal.

I mean.. changing rooms and the garden show were on all afternoons before but they never had repeats like this D:

oh man.... exciting things are coming. I've been feeling frantic.

So today I mailed portfolio packets to Carus Publishing's magazine division and their cobblestone publishing division, highlights for children, and usborne publishing in the UK.

I applied for a part-time-with-awesome-benefits school administration position yesterday and ALREADY got an interview??? so I have an interview next week!!!

and then I was called by a fairly well-known author that a friend of mine is working for to do some illustrations for a book hes working on that already has a deal with MTV books. he might hire D-ster as well :D

I have two art meetings in July... possibly three. Random House, Scholastic, and Bloomsbury.

I have so much to doooo. I have nowhere to work currently since I'm split between three places: my home, my packed-up school studio, and my empty new queens studio. So I need to get all my stuff moved to the queens place so I can start working somewhere.

Also - I guess I never did my LA/San Diego post. ah well. Well it was a week of firsts :D so here's a brief list:
-I saw a kiwi bird! and a koala!
-I saw the pacific ocean!
-I climbed a mountain/hill thing and saw all of LA before me!
-I saw saturn and its rings and a moon in a telescope!
-I saw a tesla coil shoot lightning!
-I saw the walk of fame!
-I saw Rudolph Valentino and Peter Lorre's graves!
-I saw the Warner Brothers studio tour!
-I got a Scientology stress test!
-I got hideous sunburn that is now peeling all over the place and getting stuck in my hair! haha
-Yay!

gakehgkhar anyway gotta go eat lunch and do some printing and do some more publishing research and mailinnggssss... whew. gaherkhgaerhgkjaer....

I have my ticket to see EQUUS in OCTOBER!! YAAAAAY!!!! *dances*

Heading to LA tomorrow with girllustrator and we will be staying with asuka and justapalindrome

I am super excited :D I hate flying though *shivers* and so does D-ster. We will be clutching hands with fear. have a two hour layover in atlanta and then off to LA.

We'll be in LA till the 17th and we're catching a redeye... so i really wont be back in NY until the 18th. ughhh redeyes. 3 hour layover in atlanta from 6-9 in the morning. gross.

I'm excited though! I'm totally going to the san diego zoo (we're going to san diego for the day) and the getty and the warner bros studio tour and griffith park and the observatory and yay :D and other stuff.

went and saw the publisher at Farrar Straus and Giroux today. Went... okay. I guess. She really liked my work, but not so much my storytelling. That's okay... I don't want to be a writer. I want to be an illustrator :P so we'll see what happens. She took a bunch of my postcards and made some copies of my book and said shed pass them around the office and told me to keep in touch. phwew.

it would be nice if other people would contact me back though D: ive only heard back from Pinkney's wife and the random house editor I met a year ago.

anyway i need to go make some dinner now and then shower and finish packing. raaahhhh.....

I have oral allergy syndrome with some fruits... Watermelon and bananas are the ones that I can recall now. But they only make my mouth and throat itch a little bit so its no biggie and I eat them anyway. It's always been this way and hasn't gotten worse. Is it okay to just keep eating them anyway?

I was reading some forums about it and people stop eating the fruits but i think its because they had more severe reactions. If I keep eating them could my reactions get more severe? Hmm... well I'm not stopping D:

Man, things have been crazy. Haven't given a good update in a while!

Well my sister was visiting for graduation and then a few days later immortalis came and stayed for a week which was heaps of fun. And now I am finally alone and able to think about where the hell my life is going. I AM DONE WITH SCHOOL. I MUST GET A CAREER. GAH! stress levels are slowly rising...

Dandan found a sweet apartment in brooklyn really early in her trip, so the rest of the time we spent going to museums and eating delicious food. DALLAS BBQ YES!!!! Went to the Met, the Frick, the Guggenheim (AMAZING SHOW - cai guo qiang people.... amazing), the natural history museum. Went shopping, and ate everywhere delicious. Yaay. It was a nice break. Also watched some fantastic furry porn (and I was actually shocked, which is rare for me...), and also witnessed an embarassing incident in which some poor girl at a restaurant unknowingly had huge amounts of blood all over the back of her skirt *SHUDDER* and we discussed period blood etiquette (read more here - we seek your opinions!)

The day she left was filled with panic attack. I locked us out of my apartment half an hour before a dentist appointment, but managed to get a locksmith over and ran to the dentist in dandan's shoes (yes I had no shoes, phone, or wallet), and the locksmith charged an insane amount. After Dandan left I was just in a general bad mood and went to the grocery store before heading to Metals to get dinner food and the first place didn't have tofurky... so i went to a second store... and they had tofurky but only the kielbasa flavor... not the italian sausage. So I had a panic attack and called up metal "I don't think I can come over.... because I CANT FIND THE FUCKING TOFURKY AND IM HAVING A PANIC ATTACK *hyperventilate sob*" Yeah it was pretty awesome. I was in the organic vegetable section hiding in a corner.

D-ster/girllustrator was here earlier and we made grilled cheese and watched Far From Heaven - amazing movie. so beautiful D: And we cried a little bit :P *sigh*

And now I've got some severe money stress since D-ster and I GOT A STUDIO SPACE!!! In a totally amazing artists co-op in long island city, so we have to pay a deposit and two months rent. And I haven't been getting much work lately... at all. So its back to a cereal diet yay!

Which brings me to prints! The fish are re-scanned and I will have a post tomorrow or sometime this weekend... or sometime next week... about selling fish prints (and thesis book and babylon prints, anything!) I've sold some thesis prints this week (: cool!
